Team Manager and Manufacturing Engineer
Emma Ní Dhonnchadha is the team manager and manufacturing engineer of Petrolic. She is responsible for deciding how our car will be made, managing the team and assisting the other members with their jobs. She worked closely with the design engineer, Jenny O'Brien, to design our model F1 car to be as fast and aerodynamic as possible.
Design Engineer
Jenny O' Brien is the design engineer of team Petrolic. She had to research everything about aerodynamics, for example how to create downforce and reduce drag and lift, with the cars aerofoils and side pods. She then drew designs for our car and then Jenny, Emma and their technology teacher put the designs onto SolidWorks, put the finishing touches on it and sent the design to be manufactured at Cork Institute of Technology.
Marketing and Communications
Leah Hogan is the marketing and communications manager for our team. She is in charge of writing press releases and sending them to local radio stations and newspapers, to get media coverage for our team. She also had to send many emails and letters requesting sponsorship from businesses in our local area. Leah also set up a facebook and twitter page to help get our team known by the public.
Resource Manager
Shauna O' Grady is the resource manager for our team. She is responsible for organising where we get our materials and equipment from, such as paint for the car and printing for our display and portfolio. She wrote our budget with our income and expenditure, so we could keep track of our funds. She was also in charge of time management and made sure that the team was meeting the deadlines set.
Graphic Designer
Ciara O' Connell is team Petrolic's graphic designer. She was responsible for creating the team logo and the team's identity. Ciara was also in charge of producing the colour schemes which are used in every aspect the project, such as the portfolio, uniforms, presentation and the painted car. Our colour scheme firey colours such as red, orange and yellow, and also black.
