Team Identity

Our Name - Petrolic!

Before we came up with the name "Petrolic", we had many ideas for names. Our name was originally "Infinity", which means a state of endlessness and something that has no limit. We all thought this was a great name for our team, but felt it wasn't unique enough and it had been used by many teams before. When we were working on our project, Ciara, the graphic designer of our team said the word "Petrolic" and everyone thought it just clicked instantly as a team name. The word "Petrolic" means something related to, or derived from petroleum. We all agreed that it was much more original than "Infinity" and it also has something to do with cars, petrol!

Team Logo!

With the help of the whole team, and other friends and family, we came up with a few different logo designs. Our first idea was to create a mascot for our team, that everyone would know our team by. We came up with a mascot which was a pit stop worker holding a start flag, and spraying fire with our name "Petrolic" in it.

We decided to draw more logos as we didn't feel the mascot worked as well as we wanted it to, but we decided to develop the fire theme, as we were using the colours associated with fire throughout our project plans. We then came up with a logo which was a dragons head, breathing fire which had "Petrolic" written in it as well. We thought this was more affective and it really kept with the "firey" theme, but we were straying away from the fact that we are a F1 car design team, and this logo had nothing to do with cars!

We then decided to still use the fire theme, but have the logo more related to F1 cars. Our final logo is a front view of a F1 race car, which has fire coming from its wheels and has "Petrolic" written underneath it. The fire shows that the car is going fast on the race track, which we are hoping our car will do at the regional finals! We decided to use this logo because it was simple, uses our team colour scheme, and portrays our aim as a team... to design a very fast F1 car!
