After a long time developing our car designs, our design engineers have finally put the finishing touches to our Formula 1 car on SolidWorks. Jenny and Emma drew up many designs for the F1 model car, and then decided which designs would produce the fastest car.
There were many aspects of our car which we wanted to be as aerodynamic as possible , such as the side pods, aerofoils and the body of the car. After a lot of research on creating downforce, and reducing drag and lift, we came up with many designs for the car. Below are some of the very first designs we drew, as well as our finished design on SolidWorks. The design has been sent to Cork Institute of Technology to be manufactured, and then it must be sanded down and painted.
